Need a Domain Name?

Haven't bought your domain name yet? No problem. It's a simple process but can be confusing if you've never done it before. Here are some quick FAQs to help you make your domain name decision easier.

  1. Try to get a .COM if one's available, if one's not available then go with a .CO or .NET.
  2. If you're a non-profit organization, get a .ORG and a .COM, and have the .COM forwarded to your .ORG making your .ORG your primary domain.
  3. Don't make your domain name too long. It should be easy to remember and easy to recite.
  4. Get a domain name that represents your business name. Adding important keywords in your URL is not necessary for good search engine optimization.
  5. If you have competition with a similar business name, it may be a good idea to buy up all of the extensions for your name.
  6. If you have easily mistaken variations to your name, purchase all variations and forward to your primary domain. Ex. www.bn.com (the mistaken variation) forwards to www.barnesandnoble.com (the primary domain).

Recommended Domain Registrar:

  • GoDaddy (New .COMs starting at just $11.95/yr.)
